What is bio-identical hormone therapy?
Our physicians will create a custom-compounded therapy for symptoms that stem from hormonal imbalances. This therapy keeps hormone levels consistent through the day and avoids rollercoaster-like effects commonly associated with orally administered or topically administered hormones. The pellets our physicians at The Women’s Health Center use contain bio-identical hormones and are derived from natural sources. The pellets contain hormones identical to the ones found in the human body.
Who can benefit from bio-identical hormone pellet therapy?
Men and women who suffer from hormonal imbalance. Women experiencing hormonal imbalance may experience hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, anxiety, irritability, insomnia, decreased libido, and vaginal dryness. What is the difference between bio-identical hormone pellets and the traditional hormone replacement therapy?
Bio-identical hormones are different from those used in traditional hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in that they’re identical chemically to those our bodies produce naturally and are made from plant derivatives. These come in the form of pellets that are subcutaneously inserted into the body to alleviate hormonal imbalance side effects. Traditional HRT methods are synthetic, and may be taken in pill, skin patch, gel, cream, or spray form. Studies have shown that bio-identical hormones have fewer side effects than synthetic hormones. Ask your physician which form is best for you.
